Walking into Zhejiang Xinya Packaging Co., Ltd. in Longgang City, Zhejiang Province, the production workshop is bustling with activity, machines running at high speed, and raw materials being processed into finished products through various processes.
“These goods are waiting to be shipped abroad, with the destination being the United States.” Chen Faguo, the manager of the company’s foreign trade department, pointed to the packaged products ready for shipment. Previously, due to the increase in tariffs between China and the United States, American customers stopped all orders, but now that the tariffs have been reduced, the orders have returned. “Recently, many customers have been contacting us, and their willingness to place orders is very strong.” Chen Faguo estimated that 90% of the American orders will resume.
In 2024, Zhejiang Xinya Packaging Co., Ltd. achieved an external trade output value of nearly 100 million yuan, with products exported to countries and regions such as Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, with many popular products highly favored by foreign customers. “We have fully integrated into their commercial chain and can provide full-service support.” Chen Faguo stated that a complete industrial chain and mature technology are the foundation that enables companies to establish long-term cooperation with many foreign customers and difficult to replace.
Chen Faguo’s words reveal the strength and confidence of “Longgang Printing”. As the “China Printing City,” Longgang City’s printing and packaging industry started in the 1980s and has led to the formation of three major traditional industries: printing and packaging, new materials, and green textiles. In recent years, with the continuous transformation and upgrading of Longgang City’s urban development, the complete industrial chain and supporting facilities have resulted in 886 companies holding printing operation permits, with over 43,000 related market entities and nearly 150,000 employees.
It’s not an isolated case. Another Longgang enterprise, Wenzhou Baofeng Packaging Technology Co., Ltd., is also rushing to produce a batch of food box orders worth nearly $200,000 for the American market. “Many previously suspended American orders have resumed production, and the company has given the green light to foreign trade orders, hoping to deliver quickly within the 90-day tariff window.” said Lin Fumiao, the company’s general manager.
For many printing companies in Longgang, the resumption of orders is not only an opportunity but also a challenge. Facing this wave of orders, Lin Fumiao has optimized the company’s external market strategy and leveraged the advantages of online platforms to let more overseas customers know about the company’s product strengths. Some enterprises in Longgang are also establishing branches overseas to enhance their risk resistance capabilities.
Currently, with a large number of foreign trade enterprises experiencing a surge in orders, the local government in Longgang is taking multiple measures to help companies quickly “digest” overseas orders and accelerate the expansion of new markets, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the regional economy.
